“Education should no longer be mostly imparting knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentials.”

Academic Offerings

CMS offers a full day program of education based on the Montessori method, serving parents with children aged 18 months to 8th grade.

Beginning in our toddler classrooms, the child begins to develop coordination, concentration, and independence while realizing that learning is an exciting process of discovery. By graduation, our sixth-graders have grown into natural leaders taking pride in their education and developing skills such as self-discipline, motivation, and confidence.

Enrichment

Garden

School gardens have been shown to provide numerous benefits for students such as enhancing their knowledge of science, instilling a greater appreciation of the environment, and encouraging more nutritious eating habits. The Gardens at CMS aim to connect students to the process of growing healthy foods and offer countless opportunities for hands on learning such as planting, watering, harvesting, and composting.

French

At CMS, French is taught to all students in Preschool through 8th grade. The goal is to introduce the French language and the culture of Francophone countries through conversation, books, games, and music. Learning a foreign language enhances a student’s performance in other academic areas, and studies show that there are cognitive and social benefits of introducing a foreign language at a young age.

Music

Music affects the brain in many positive ways. It makes you smarter, happier, and more productive at any age. At CMS, all students engage in music. Through singing, listening, and rhythm instruments, students learn: folk music from around the world, the works of important composers, and musical movements. This musical foundation sets the stage for lessons in teamwork, analytical thought, focus, and the importance of arts in culture.

Library

The library is a valuable resource to all students at CMS. Toddlers enjoy weekly story time with our librarian while older students visit the library to check out books and conduct research. Regular access to the library helps students foster a love of reading and promote independent decision making. Our librarian Ms. Sara loves working with the students to discover materials that will stir their imagination.

Physical Education

A Montessori education develops the whole child mentally and physically. Our physical education program aims to build physical literacy, which is the ability to move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person. Our PE teacher leads programs for all three levels beginning with the toddlers.

Art

Art not only unleashes a child's creativity, but also inhabits many of the building blocks of a child's development. These include improving motor skills, expanding critical thinking skills, broadening cultural awareness, building confidence, allowing collaboration opportunities, and upholding accountability. As Maria Montessori said, "We cannot 'teach' a child to be an artist, but we can help him develop: an eye that sees, a hand that obeys, a soul that feels."

Drama

Implementing drama within the classroom opens a world of imagination and creativity. Not only can drama be used and adapted across the curriculum, but it can also serve as a catalyst for building individual skills that students can later use in everyday life situations. From acting out skits, to exploring different characters, drama promotes critical thinking, so that students can formulate and express their own opinions.

Service

A Montessori education engages each child at his own level in context within his world, instilling a sense of care and respect for others and responsibility for his environment. Built on this foundation, students enjoy giving back and helping by taking on jobs such as safety patrol, recycling, and clean up. Classes often reach out on a broader scale by participating in service projects and collecting donations for those in need.

Extracurricular Activities

Creative Montessori offers a variety of extracurricular activities to students during the after-school hours. These programs complement and enhance our children’s busy day of learning by allowing them time to further explore different areas of individual interest. Many programs are taught by our own teachers as well as members of the community or local agencies. Offerings include: Drama, Chess, Art, Soccer, Baking, Karate, and Many More.
